Anti-ordinary games of infinite expression.
Infinite Citadel is a games collective started by Matt and Conlin, two software folks turned game designers. We’re a publisher of games, game materials, and other tools for tabletop gamers with a focus on creating stories beyond the ordinary world. We currently live and work distributed in the United States.
If you like what we’re doing, you can support us.
You might know us from our previous work...
We’ve got a number of in-progress projects and are also available for consultation, editing, and writing work.
Mission
We founded Infinite Citadel with the two goals in mind.
The first was to create the kind of accessible, interesting, and fun tabletop games that we wanted to see in the world. That means making games that inspire radical ideas, explore identity, and that promote individuality and expression.
The second is to build a sustainable lifestyle for everyone involved and affiliated with Infinite Citadel. We operate as a worker coop, making decisions based on consensus and shared direction setting. We look for partnerships with people and companies that share our ideals and believe in paying contractors & freelancers fairly.
Philosophy
Human
Everything we make is made by humans. Generative AI has no place in art, and games are art.
Quality not Crunch
We make great stuff, but that takes time and energy. We would rather delay than rush. That keeps us healthy and you happy.
Accessible
Everyone deserves to game, and so we will make our things available in whatever formats best facilitate easy access to everyone.
Open
Creation is joy, and your creation is our joy. We will always use licenses that enable you to make stuff with our stuff. We want to see it!
Consensus
We make decisions based on consensus and feedback, not power plays or egos.
The Team
Conlin and Matt came together as a part of the Tales of Initiative actual play network. We each had our own pursuits (Has Been Wizards & Day 20, respectively) and realized that we could do more as a team than apart. We both have a love for narrative as an artform, where we can speak truth to power while still having fun with friends & audience alike. It also lets us flex the design + math sides of our brains, honed in software dev but liberated by the blank canvas of tabletop gaming.
